Three friends-psychotherapist Cathy
Conheim, gynecologist Barbara Levy, and retired ob-gyn Donna Brooks-launched The
Real Women Project, and organization that helps women around the country learn
to love their bodies. The inspiration? A discussion they had about how some women
avoided doctors' appointments because they were embarrassed about how they looked
naked. Their first move was to commission artist T.J. Dixon to make 13 ten-inch
bronze sculptures of women of all shapes and sizes. Now, there's also a traveling
exhibition featuring these stunning statues, cosponsored by the National Institutes
of Health, called the Changing Faces of Women's Health Tour.
